Several books from the popular Percy Jackson series have been banned in Iran because the country prohibits the use of the word “wine” in books, as well as the use of foreign animal names. The ban was imposed by the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in an effort to combat what it calls a “Western cultural onslaught.”
